Hard Road to The
Softer Side
From "Managed By the
Mob" By Bob Andelman
"I called your f------
house five times yesterday, now, if you're going to disregard
my m----- f------ phone calls, I'll blow you and that f ------
house up . . . This is not a f------ game. My time is valuable.
If I ever hear anybody else calls you and you respond within
five days, I'll f------ kill you.''
-John Gotti
This is what Gotti told former business
associate Anthony Moscatiello in 1982. No boss should ever be
disrespected in this fashion, a rule it's hard to believe Moscatiello
didn't know. Today, with Caller I.D. so prevalent, it's easier
than ever to avoid unwanted callers. We don't answer the phone
if the boss calls us at home now, because we know who it is without
answering. Back when this incident occurred, someone in Moscatiello's
home probably kept answering the phone and swearing they passed
the messages on to Moscatiello.
Etiquette, schmetiquette; If someone
holding the power of life or death over you is on line one, answer
the f------ phone.
